Description:
Just one of the secrets to building a record-setting long-distance mousetrap racer is gearing. With mousetrap powered vehicles the gearing can be controlled by changing the length of the mousetrap's lever arm and/or by changing the size of the drive wheel. Longer lever arms allow for more string to be pulled from the drive axle and translate into a greater pulling distance. The down side to using a long lever arm is that long lever arms tend to bending under the large force of the mouse trap's spring causing the system to loose energy at the start. The Super-Long Lever Arm set will build a 36-inch super strong lever arm that is guaranteed not to bend at the start of the run so that your vehicle can maximize it's potential energy into maximum performance.Features:
- will not bend
- cut to any length
How it works:
Two long balsa rails are glued together to form a "T" bar, the "T" bar is attached to the mousetrap's existing lever arm using a brass coupler. A string is tied to the other end of the lever arm using a second coupler. The shape of the lever arm gives it incredible strength so that it will not bend even under high loads. This long lever arm kit is designed to build a 36-inch lever arm that can easily be cut to any length in order to fit any size mousetrap project.Includes the following:
- 2x 9-inch balsa sides
