The Sling-Shot takes a bit work to build than other rubber band racer kits and some cutting and drilling may be required by the builder.

The Sling-Shot Racer comes with two ultra sticky, low inertia foam wheels that are made from a very sticky lightweight urethane that is designed to grab any floor surface creating maximum traction while generating rocket accelerations. Assembly Time:

The Sling-Shot Racer Kit can be assembled in less than 45 minutes for most first time builders and when finished it will travel 5 meters in 1 second.

• Able to measure with a ruler in both inches and/or centimeters.
• Experience working with wood glue and/or Cyanoacrylate glues (Super Glues).
• Able to glue two pieces of balsa wood together.
• Able to tie a loop knot in string.
• Able to use needle nose pliers to cut wire.
• Able to cut paper using a scissors.
• Able to make somewhat "straight"cuts with a hobby knife in balsa wood.
• Can problem solve during construction and make adjustments.

• Able to sand parts to make them smooth.

The Sling-Shot Racer is an easy-to-build top performing rubber band racer that is perfect for all high torque and top speed contests. The Sling-Shot Racer is geared to constantly gain velocity from the start line to the finish line so there is no slowing down before it crosses the finish line. The Sling-Shot Racer will reach its maximum velocity at 4.5 meters from the start line, 0.5 meters before it crosses the finish line.

Pulley Launch System

This is most advanced and efficient rubber band propulsion system ever designed for propelling a rubber band powered vehicle. The secret behind Doc Fizzix's top secret propulsion system is the advanced pulley system that allows a rubber band to be stretched to it's maximum capacity for maximum potential energy. The trouble with almost all other rubber band propulsion systems is that the rubber band is twisted or wound in order to store energy, the Doc Fizzix's rubber band propulsion system stretches the rubber band and this provides a more uniform transfer of potential energy and also maximizes the total amount of energy available generating rocket accelerations off the start line.

Our Ultra-Sticky Foam Wheels wheels are manufactured specifically for Doc Fizzix Products and are the exact same wheels that were used on Doc Fizzix's world record setting rubber band racer that traveled 5 meters in 1 second. By far, the biggest secret to Doc Fizzix world record setting Sling-Shot racer was the use of these ultra sticky foam wheels that were essential in keeping his Sling-Shot Racer from spinning out at the start line by providing maximum traction to the floor surface. Ultra sticky foam wheels are 2 inches in diameter and machined to fit a 5/32 inch axle

Easy-wind, snag-free propulsion system

As with all our top rubber band racer kits, The Sling-Shot Racer includes our "easy-wind" and "snag-free" string release system that will not tangle and/or snag on release for increased performance, a technique developed exclusively by Doc Fizzix for mousetrap and rubber band powered racers. Our snag-free propulsion system is designed to release from the drive axle once the pulling force is complete in order to maximize the coasting distance.

Ultra thin, low-inertia wheel and Axle System

Our low-inertia wheel and axle system includes our lightweight, 3/16" inch diameter brass tubing axles that spin with less friction than wooden dowels for an increase in both the speed and the travel distance of your vehicle. Lightweight brass-tubing axles will not warp like wooded dowels and have a lot less mass than steel axles used in many of our competitors kits so your rubber band vehicles will travel smoother, with less wobble, and less wasted energy for an increase in both speed and travel distance.
