Despite its lightweight, balsa wood has an excellent strength-to-weight ratio making it the perfect choice for structural components such as frames and chassis used with all lightweight vehicle projects. Balsa wood is also flexible and great at absorbing energy from small bumps and imperfection on even the smoothest of surfaces. Because of its energy absorbing properties, vehicles made from balsa wood will absorb small bumps, travel smoother, further, and faster with less wasted energy. The pre-drilled holes are designed to hold a 3/16" inch axle or smaller; the holes can be drilled out for larger axles as needed.
