We want to thank our many customers who have continued to support our products and who have made Doc Fizzix Products the number one source for mousetrap powered vehicles and products not just here on Earth but also throughout the galaxy, thank you for your patronage.

Company History

Doc Fizzix Products is located in tranquil Austin, Texas and was founded in 1995 by Alden J. Balmer. Doc Fizzix (pronounced Doc Physics) was originally the nick-name given to Alden J. Balmer by his students and would eventually became the name for the company. The original objective of Doc Fizzix Products was to produce, develop, and manufacture quality educational hobby kits and materials that could be used to inspire, motivate, excite, and teach the basic concepts of physics. Doc Fizzix Products has grown from a small family owned business into the worlds largest manufacture and supplier of mousetrap powered hobby kits. Doc Fizzix Products also make a large variety of other education hobby kits including rubber band powered racers, balloon powered racers, gravity propelled cars, battery buggies, demonstration equipment, and so more.

Our kits and products are now carried by more than a thousand hobby and craft stores across the country including the Hobbytown USA and the Hobby Lobby chain of store. All of our products and the materials within our products are 100% made in the United States of America. Our kits have been featured in countless number of magazines and publications including The Science Teacher, Boys Life, Physics Today, National Hobby Distributer, and more.  Alden J. Balmer has appeared on several national aired television programs performing science experiments and demonstrating his mousetrap powered vehicles.

As the popularity of our products has continued to grow around the globe we have relocated to a much larger manufacturing facility in order to keep up with the increase demands for our products. We have now moved from our original home in historic Round Rock, Texas to our new home just outside of Austin, Texas. Our new facility will give us the well needed space for us to continue to grow as the demand for our products continues to grow.

Employment

Doc Fizzix Products has 15 full time and part time employees overseeing the daily operations from manufacturing, marketing, product development, website maintenance and design, and shipping.

Doc Fizzix Products is always working on developing new products branching out in new directions. We are also building a complete physics resource website that will be a data base for all science teachers where they will be able to download activities, experiments, lesson plans, demonstrations, and so much more all from one location. This new resource site has been a long dream of Alden J. Balmer and will be a place where he can finally house all of his activities and lesson that were developed while working in the Lecture Demonstration Department at the university of Texas.

At Doc Fizzix Products we are always looking for new, funny, happy, and creative people. If you are interested in being part of the Doc Fizzix family through employment, carrying our products, setting up distribution, and/or investment opportunities please do not hesitate to give us a call and/or send us an email.

STEM Curriculum

As the national science standards continue to evolve and change we are focused on making sure our products meet the needs of the new STEM science standards. We are very excited about the STEM curriculum mainly because we have been designing and manufacturing our kits for this very program long before it was adopted. STEM refers to the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. STEM initiatives started as a way to promote education in these related areas so that students would be prepared to study STEM fields in college and pursue STEM-related careers. Schools with a strong emphasis on STEM education often integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics into the entire curriculum.

Activities using project based activities like mousetrap powered cars can and should be part of a comprehensive approach to giving more students a chance to discover an interest in STEM, and an aptitude that could lead many -- especially those from underrepresented populations to choose degrees and careers in the STEM fields. Most teachers strive to bring new and innovative ideas to their classrooms, and Doc Fizzix Products works to help them achieve this goal. Our latest series of Doc Fizzix Products are ideal for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math education. Ensuring American competitiveness in an increasingly global economy requires significant improvements in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education. Doc Fizzix Products has been designing kits that can accomplish the goals of STEM education.
